96-97 SLP Header Install HELP <~~~~

Hey Guys...

I'm helping "Z28 97" with the install of 96/97 style slp shorties, random tech y-pipe, and mangaflow catback for his 97 Z...

We finally got the headers somewhat bolted up ....

The drivers side last 2 rear bolts, are half way in each and DONT wanna tighten any more .. LITERALLY .. What could that be ? HELP !

Secondly those of you who used the SLP install kit, WTF did you use to tighten the bolts that came with the install kit .. We cant fit anything we have in there to tighten them up... NEED major advice with that ..

Anyways we got both headers bolted up, just need to tighen all the bolts fully, new plugs and wires are in, y-pipe and catback next, and re-install an air pump and all the jazz with it that was never there.. FUN FUN !!!

Tips, Advice, any help is greatly appericated !!!

Yeah, I hated installing my slp's, for the bolts i used a 3/8 wrachiting wrench. and I had the same problem with the bolts that dont wanna go in. I just took all the bolts back out and screwed one bolt in the rear of the header and one bolt in the front, and for some reason the rest of the bolts screwed in just fine.

yup.. need a socket with universal joint to hit most of the bolts and then get a wractching wrench and bust some knuckles to get rest..

its a PITA... i also reccomend getting some locking headerbolts now so u dont need to worry about them backing out like i do monthly

Did you get those last two header bolts in yet? When you took off the old bolts the end of them might have broken off in there. Take a thin screwdriver or something and see if there is anything in the hole.

Try to loosen all the ones in front of them so they are all finger tight or so...if the others are tighted down it may be putting the header at an odd angle causin gthe bolt to go in crooked... if that makes any sense...I don't have SLPs but when I change header gaskets...this happened to me...

It does make sense to me ...

with that being the case for those 2 bolts.. if we cross threaed these 2, how can we REPAIR ??? --- I'm just gonna assume we cross threaded those 2 bolts...
