95 Z28 wont start? No fuel..

I'm working on a friend's '95 Z28, auto, 90K miles...

We put a battery on it to see if it would crank up, but it just turns over...

We bought some starter fluid and if you spray a near-constant stream in short bursts into the throttle body it runs, and even idled for a second, but quickly dies...so I know it's not ignition related. It has enough juice to light the starter fluid.

I installed a new fuel pump relay and still nothing...

Installed a new fuel filter and nothing..

Also, while the fuel filter was off, I turned the key forward and even cranked it over a few turns and not a drop of fuel came out of the line coming from the tank.

Im thinking the fuel pump is either unplugged or completely shot..it doesnt hum, click, or anything....so its gotta be totally dead.

Can anyone confirm this for me before I start taking stuff apart? I'd hate to installed the new pump & still no fuel...I wouldnt be able to return it then...

Thanks guys

-Chris

My personal opinion is if you hear no sound coming from the fuel pump priming, and you aren't getting any fuel into the lines, the pump is definatly shot and I'd be swapping in a walbro 255. I was already thinking fuel pump before even reading into the part about no fuel getting to the lines and no prime sound.

before doing it though, just for a peace of mind, I'd double check the connections and make sure nothing but the pump itself could be malfunctioning. JMO

for sure....Im going to check the connection, then if its not that, plug the new pump in and see if it buzzes before putting it in. Or would even a 2 second burst damage the pump when running dry? Just to check if it is really the pump before assemby?....I'd hate to put it all together and it still no get fuel...
