95 Z Obd1

My 95 Z has obd 1 with an obd 2 connector and I want to know if antone knows what pins I use to jump so I can get the codeds. Also I have a scan tool fot each system but can't use either with this stupid connector that GM did this with. Please Help me if you can . Thanks Butch

You can only jump the pins on a 93 model to flash the codes. 94+ models can not be diagnosed this way. You'd need to have it scanned with a scan tool/software. :)

You can't "jump" the pins of a 95, I think the last car you could do that with was a 93. Your best bet would probably be to get a cable and some free software like freescan.

EDIT: He beat me in.

To add to the complexity, you probably won't be able to have it scanned from Autozone, because they don't carry the 16-pin OBDI connector required to scan it. A dealer would be your best bet.

Connect your 12 pin OBD-I scan tool connector like this and it will work. (pins 5 and 9)
