95 lt1 overheating!

Hey everyone I just recently bought a 95 camaro z28 with an overheating problem well after taking a look at it I realized that one of the dual-fans wasn't kicking on so I just went and bout a fan motor so after doing that it doesn't overheat as bad but last weekend I went cruisin and was drivin on the freeway and gasing it for awhile and it started overheating to 260 again

So basically idk were to go from here I replaced the thermostat and the radiator is still in good shape any ideas would be apreciated!!!

You replaced the thermostat? Did you get a LT1 thermostat or just a SBC thermostat? After replacing the thermostat did you properly bleed the system?

So you bought a standard SBC thermostat, that is your problem right there. Return that thing and order the proper thermostat. You probably payed about $6-8, LT1 thermostats are ~$20.

If you have a local performance shop, they will most likely have a couple in stock. But you can order one from places like Summit, or Jegs, or look through some of our vendors here.

Did the one you buy look like the one that came out?

News to me, I have never seen a LT1 thermostat IN STOCK at an AutoZone or Discount Auto, maybe a Car Quest, but never seen it in the others.

If it looked just like the one that came out, then it's the correct one. Hrm.. I guess I haven't tried to buy a LT1 thermostat from AutoZone in a long time, lol.

So you are saying that your car gets in to the red WHILE driving? Or is it only after driving say on the interstate then you get back in to stop and go traffic?

Yeah it got in the red while driving like I was on and off the interstate throughout the day and it stayed right by the red so I had to constantly make stops to let it cool down kinda embarassin because I was cruisin with some car clubs lol
