95 lt1 in a 94?

Hello all. I'm pretty new at the modification bit so I need some help. I am looking at putting an 95 LT1 engine in a 94 LT1 camaro? I didn't know if there was any major differences between the two. Can someone let me know?

Actually i have read in a few places the 95's put 295 to the flywheel, whereas the 94's put 275. I also kno that the 95's had diff cam, timing chain and a few other misc parts. Not for sure tho

Another question. Does anyone know what mechanics generally charge to pull an LT1 and install a new one? I'm just talking labor, not an engine rebuild. I don't have the tools nor the knowledge on how to do a change but I know that the car is pretty much built around the engine and everything is expensive on the labor side.

I don't know if this matters but some 95 models made in the later part of the production year came with the ODBII and the 94's came with the OBDI so it may be something you want to check into. Good Luck

All 1995 LT1s are OBDI.

If you swap the engine only, you should not have a problem. There is a minor difference with one of the auto trans solenoids between the years.

In responce to your question about the price of labor for putting a motor in, I work in a shop and we dropped a GM LT1 crate motor into a '95 Z28. Charged the guy somewhere around $2500 to do it too. I'm assuming this sort of charge is typical of a shop. If you've never yanked the motor out of an F-body, you're in for quite a surprise. It is a serious PITA your first time doing it. If you've got the time, and the mechanical ability, do it on your own. Like I said, it is a serious PITA though.

Not Mine, I have a 95 with ODBII. Just had got it scanned when I replaced my opti 3 days ago. It's just like some 95's have 3800 v6's and some have 3.4, depending on what part of the year they were made.

Shoebox is correct, I'll add that the 95 has a vented opti (good thing) so the nose of the cam is machined different and the timing case is different. Cam has same lift and duration, same HP, is obdi, 95 car has obdii connecter on dash but is obdi.

I know all about the V6 thing and that the 3.8s were OBD2 in 1995 and that the 3.4s were not. It is not "just like" that and has nothing to do with the LT1 we were discussing. Post a pic of your emissions label that says your 1995 LT1 car is OBD2. You will be the first. Just because you have an OBD2 looking connector under the dash does not mean it is OBD2.

Your right, It says it's OBD1 certified or something. I miss read it in the Haynes manual I think. Maybe it was talking about the 3800.
