'95 Camaro Z28 running hot

Well, at the moment I'm waiting to pick my rebuilt 60E up and put it back in the car. I bought it in December and it never ran hot until recently. I doubt the tranny going out has anything to do with it, but you never know. Anyway, it would gradually get hot and climb around and over 200 degrees. Upon acceleration and cruising the temp gauge would drop a little bit, so, I think it's the waterpump that might be bad. I don't know.

if your car is stock your low speed fan isn't programmed to come on until your temp reaches 226*. then about 236* the other one should come on.

That's not right. It comes on at 195 degrees and it never ran hot until recent.

Then why is it running hot now? It's probably the waterpump.

200 degrees isnt hot at all on a 95 Z's system. The cooling system is under pressure requiring it to get substantially higher before hitting boiling point. My Stock 95Z runs about 220 to 230 in traffic, soon as it hits 228-230 first fan comes on and cools it back down.

Yeah, but it's redlined before and it has NEVER done this. So, obviously, something is wrong.

Well, sounds to me like you need to get a electricc water pump and flush your radiator . then be done with it!

Why do YOU say replace the pump. If it's not the problem, then I just wasted a ****load of money.

If your car is heating up to 200* or so, nothign is wrong with it. Id replace the thermostat first since its cheap, and thoughroly flush the system. If you still feel the cooling system is inadequite, then do a CSI pump, cheap and you get back some HP. Thast always a good thing....
