Re: 94z28 Hypertech Power Programmer III????

The "power tune" does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I actually tried is on my 94 way back in 1995. No improvement in 0-60 time, no improvement in the 1/4-mile. I've seen a magazine test where it actually LOST HP tested on a dyno. Has to have a 160* t'stat to make any SMALL gains at all.

We are not making this stuff up. Get a mail order tune and stop wasting your time and money. How many people have to tell you this? Wow......

Solomon at Lt1 PCM Tuning will do mail order tuning/retuning at a reasonable price.

MadZ28 no longer does LT1's. pcmforless does. There is a tuner on LTxTech.com that is supposed to be good. Do a search there for "MoeHorsePower".

moehorsepower@peoplepc.com

I think Ed Wright as fastchip still does mail order tunes:

FastChip

You an send them your PCM, they load the program, and send it back to you. If you can't be without your PCM for a brief period, they will send you a programmed PCM with a core charge, that gets refunded when you return your PCM.

Alternatively, they can send you a file via e-mail, and the software required to load it, through the ALDL connector. You would have to have a cable. Not sure all of the above will work this way.

You are correct but he has very little patience these days. Even less than he used to. I don't think he would be your best choice. He no longer has his shop but does work from home.

I thought Bryan Herter did the pcmforless tunes. He has a good reputation.

Pcmforless no longer tunes 93's. Alvin did those, and he now operates independently as PCMofNC (North Carolina).

Re: 94z28 Hypertech Power Programmer III????

I know PCMofNC does 93's. They take a removable chip. Your 94 (and LT1's up to 97) needs the fixed chip flash programmed. I don't think he does the 94-97 LT1 via mail order - does not list it on his website. He indicates his dyno tunes are done using HP Tuners and EFILive. He could only do your 94 if he has EFILive V4 (OBD-1). You would have to see if he has it. Dyno tuning starts at $400. That's a lot to pay for a basic tune on a relatively stock engine. I'd wait until you made more significant changes before hitting the dyno.
