94 z28 WHOA's

so i picked this 94 lt1 z28 up for a real reasonable price the kid said it had a bad oil pump.well i pulled the engine and broke it down and well he was right it had a busted oil pump shaft AND the crank was litteraly broke in two! never seen it before like i said WHOA !

wow! that is a bad break! PICS!!?? I'd get a replacement engine. used engines around here are a few hundred dollars if you just wanted to get it going again. Or grab a stroker kit and go wild. Or install the infamous LSx! Good luck. Keep us posted.

depending on your budget ?? and what goals you have for this car .
you might be able to put in a new crank shaft for a cheap fix ?? not sure ??
I'm sure someone can feel in the details . also how many miles on the car ?

ill get pics on asap,but im definatly needing some work to the block i think.it all looks good except the main bearing by the break.the block side looks real rough compared to the other bearing journals i guess to the machine shop it goes huh?

Without a doubt the next step is a look at by a good machine shop. I've seen the aftermath of a broken crank and it isn't very pretty.......an eagle cast crank snapped off. Tell the shop what happened and let them recommend what services you need. I'd probably go overboard, having everything magnafluxed, etc. but they'll tell you what you need....

Agreed. A crank breaking is some serious stuff.
