94 z28 m6

hey all. i have read alot on the board and have learned alot about the lt1. had a 1LE 99z28 ls1 m6 but got totaled ...anyways i worked at a chevy dealership and came across a 94 z28 m6 hardtop. car has no power, 150000 but has had alot of work done to it by the dealership. has reman motor. it was put in about 48000 miles ago, also has had some tranny work and brand new brakes all the way around calipers, rotors, pads, lines the works. anyways the owner could not afford the bill (long story). so the dealership is selling the car to me for $1500. car is also a 1LE. (i seemed to be pretty good on getting my hands on these ) sucks tho since it doesnt have the origanal motor. brakes are still the 1LE brakes which is why the bill is so high for the brake work.
anyways my question is would you recommand doing a head cam swap on the motor or would you trash it? car runs good but does smoke when starts up but then stops when it warms up. i was thinking it may be the heads. which would give me a good reason to do a swap anyways...your comments would be great...thanks

If the car isn't your daily driver, i'd refresh the motor before you add heads and cam.

I'd still refresh the motor. Heck you can get rebuilt stock short blocks from engine remanufactures for 1k. If nothing else slap one of those in.

I've heard great things about RPM. They are a board sponsor and have some really good looking prices.

yea i like the prices. any suggestions as far as suspension. i building the car from the ground up and im starting with the suspension then working my way to the motor. i have about a grand to spend on the suspension. at least thats what im trying to budget that way i can still afford everything else. i want the car to handle, look good and be able to hook up at the strip. i was thinking about going with bmr's setup.

Check out their site www.bmrfabrication.com
A grand can get you alot of suspension pieces, but that can run out really fast depending on what you get and with what options, for example, if you upgrade to adjustable or chrome-moly pieces.
