We just purchased a 94 z-28 with 141000 thousand miles on it for the first week it ran fine.But now in the morning we will let the car sit and idle and it will shut off it won't crank back up right away you have to wait a little while! but once cranked its idles fine runs great no ses codes or nothing it gets pretty good fuel mileage also.This is driving me crazy after work it cranks up fine and drives me back home with no problem Its done this the past two mornings and its driving me nuts!The car does have some mods done to it. It has a k&n cold air kit on it it also has a msd box on it and some type of hi pro chip installed and an aluminum elbow and pace setter headers with no cats and a flow master exhaust the car has losts of power and is fun to drive but this engine stopping is bothering me can any body make any sugestions that won't break me? Next time it won't restart, try holding the gas pedal to the floor, then crank it. This tells the computer to reduce fuel (flooded mode) and see if it starts.

 

Well it happen agian this time my son was about 10 minutes from home on his way to school and it just shut off! He pulled over and waited a minute or two then tried to crank it and it cranked right up!So far today it has ran fine no stopping today we will just wait and see what might happen tomorrow!

 

It just shuts off? Doesn't hesitate or chug then shut off? If the RPM's slowly go down it could be fuel related. I know on some other vehicles the fuel filter got really plugged and slowed the fuel down and will stall the car. Although...I don't know about the not cranking part.

 

mine's been doing the same thing since last night. Almost like you just turned off the key

 

Yep but it only started since its gotten colder!

 

Could be the ignition switch is intermittent. Aftermarket ignition systems like the Crane and MSD boxes have been know to crap out too with similar symptoms.
