94 vs 95 engine harness question

Does anyone know if there is a definite difference between an 94 - 95 automatic LT1 engine harness. I ordered one recently for a 95 car, but ended up with one tagged for a 94 car. Some of the connections I do not recognize, but I have never actually pulled a complete harness out of the car before to see some of the less used connections.

Re: 94 vs 95 engine harness question

I can help you with it as i was with the same dillemma.
It ends up that the 94 and 95 are pretty similar but to know every detail it's best to check this link:

http://shbox.com/1/schematics_wiring.html

Choose #1 and #2 and you'll have all the info you could need.
NOTE: on #1 you can actually select/zoom on the picture to get more info about specific connectors.
#2 will show you that 94+95 are similar, the differences are between the before (93) and after (96+) years.
You can select several connectors (kinda like a flap sheet) at the bottom of the page.

I was very gratefull with this info so be sure to send the author an email.

There is one definite difference in the harness for automatic cars but it may be hard to see. The tranny connector is the same but the 95 has one extra wire in the harness and pin in the connector, and the tranny has one extra solenoid the 94 doesn't have.

Yes, the extra wire is the PWM solenoid wire. You will need it if you run a transmission 95 or newer on a 94 harness.

Re: 94 vs 95 engine harness question

One HUGE difference between the 2 if you are trying to find one for your car. The 1994 harness uses a single plug by the passenger strut tower to hook up to the body harness that runs over to the fuse box. 95's have 2 plugs on the passenger strut tower....

Re: 94 vs 95 engine harness question

It will need to be modified to work. When i swapped out my motor(a 94) for a motor out of a 95 i tryed to use the wireing harness from the 95 and nothing would work. I would turn the key, fuel pump wasint primeing and it wasint getting spark. I checked shoeboxe's site and the only differences i could see were thoes C100/C105 connectors. So in the end i just put the wireing harness that originally came with the car(the 94)and she started right up!
