1994TransAm, what do you think about the Hooker cat-back?? I'm thinking of getting that first.

Also, I noticed that your sig says " Trans Am GT" and I was looking at the title of my car and it's also listed as a Trans Am GT Why is that?? I never knew there was a Trans Am "GT". is that something similar like Mustang GT??

Never ever compare these cars to a Mustang GT, ever.

In 94 Trans m GT package got you, leather seats, 155 speedo, raised spoiler and thats realy about it. All 93s were GTs so to speak, in 96 all Trans Am got the GT package so to speak.

Hooker cat back is good, its 3" with a good sounding muffler, not to many complaints except for the tips. You really need a good set of headers with these cars. Cat back, cold air and a good set of headers is what you want. How many miles does the car have?

so the "GT" is a package. Got it.

Does anybody know where can I download some sound clips of the Hooker cat-back?? The tips are not the best, I agree, but the price is pretty good. Corsa is just too expensive for me at this point.

BTW, my car has ~78K miles.

Here is my advice to you, buy the cat back used. Unless you live in Habibistsahn their are plenty of good used LT1 cat backs out there, ok here is the thing you can use any 93-95 single cat cat back, any 96+ will require a S pipe to use on a single cat car. But you should be able to find a good number of single cat backs out on the boards for a 93-95. By the way six speed or auto? Also change your sig.

How extreme are you planning on taking this car? Is it a daily driver? If not then after the exhaust I would strongly recomend a high stall converter. 2800 - 3200. That is what I would do first if I had to do it all over again.

Honestly, I just want this car to run low 13s. My dream car is a black six-speed LS1 WS6 Trans Am. So bolt ons should do the trick for now on my 94 T/A.

True for 94, but in 93 all the Trans Am had the high level spoiler, I have yet to see 1 93 with the low level spoiler or even cloth seats. Most the 93 owners on this board haven't seen one either thats not a "GT". All the 93 Trans Ams came full loaded with all the performance options, high level spoiler and interior.

Why they did the entire GT thing seems dumb to me, even the low level/high level spoiler option in 94/95 seems dumb. If you spend the money for a Trans Am you should get all the stuff. I could under stand some thing like GTA/TA like back in third gen, minus the motor options since only 1 V8. It would be cool to own a bare bone Trans Am with roll up windows, cloth seats and all the performance stuff. Someone asked why in 93 they had no more GTA option, pretty much in 93 all the GTA stuff was standard. So no more need, but in 94 they started that GT stuff.

Onehunt,

Is your car an auto or six speed? Low 13s with an LT1 is failry easy with these cars, dont let people tell you different. Plenty of people have run some good times with these cars.

My friend bought a '93 TA new in '93 which made me buy a '94 Z. His TA had a little spoiler & 2.73 Gears with is 3 speed A4 & cloth interior

Congrats on the purchase. You will absolutely love the car. I myself just sold my 1997 30th anniversary SS to go buy a 94 black Trans Am "GT" from a gentleman in Georgia.

First off, low thirteens are rather easy with a LT1. My little brother has a 1996 Z28 w 100k miles, K&N Cold Air Induction (CAI), Hooker longtubes, offroad ypipe, PCM reprogram, and plugs/wires swapped. His car went 13.2 with an auto on STREET tires. He was able to cut a 2.0 and get to 104.5 mph. So, it can be done very easily.

Second off, the best internet site for the LT1 powered cars is probably this one. You might also want to check out the moderator Brent Franker's home page. Some VERY usefull information and a lot of different wheel and appearance mods.

Be sure and check out the for sale section. Many great buys can be found in there, but just be mindful of people who have 1 post and want to sell you a blown 383 for $2.99

Do a lot of reading on the different forums. There is a vast amount of knowledge in them. There is just about any install guide for just about every mod you can think of. And don't be afraid to ask questions. Everybody was where you were at one point, so dont feel embarrased if you ask a question.

Enjoy and thank you for reading "Chapter 11 How to make it on camaroz28.com as a NEWBIE" from my book No Replacement for Displacement

I have yet to see a 93 with an uplevel spoiler and my 1994 Trans Am GT had cloth too.

But anyway, If you want a streetable car stay away from high stall converters.

The best way to go would be:
CAI
Cat-Back Exhaust
1LE Bellows
PCM Programming

That got my 94 into the 13's
