94 Opti DIY venting
94 Opti DIY venting
I am replacing my opti, yet again and plan to vent this unit before reinstalling it. I have found a Corvette Fever Article on the subject but was unable to find any description on this site.
I am planning to attach hose to the mettalic housing and to the plastic cap. This gives me two hoses to attach to the engine. According to the article, one attaches to the intake elbow and the other attaches to the intake manifold. In my mind, the intake elbow (supply side) should attach to the to metal housing and the intake manifold (vacuum side) attach to the plastic cap. In this way the ionized gas is drawn away from the metallic components.
I orderred a 1255323 harness even though I am not sure what it includes.
Has anyone done this? Any comments.....

I've done it -- seems to be working ok so far. Still running on the stock 1994 opti.
My original plan was to use the AIR pump to push air out thru the factory drain holes, but decided it would be best to seal the housing and use vacuum. Though, I never really gave the hoses much thought as far as back-to-front. I would imagine that, with proper ventillation, there wont be much to worry about either way. (The air will circulate faster than any harmful gasses can form.)
I've got plenty of pics if you need them for anything. Let us know how it goes...
