93 style slp shorties collector ?

93 style single cat slp shorties. I've having a little trouble with the collector flanges. what did you guys do/use to seal your up good. what size bolts do I need? Thats my main problem, I've got 1 bolt on each tight as hell right now with a **** load of copper rtv and its sealed but I dunno how long it'll hold. what can i use to get both bolts in and all that crap, Im so frustrated from it i could scream. thanks in advance guys...

Unless yours is diferent than mine it shouldn't be that hard to get them to seal. What happened to the bolts that came with it? Two on each side right? Go down to your local parts store and tell them that you need a 2.5" donut gasket for your exhaust, and that you want the softest gasket they have. Once you've done this, install soft donut gasket, line everything up, and begin tightening your bolts. I ran my bolt down on one side how I wanted it, then snugged the other one down real good, then did the other side of the motor.

do you have pics you could show me, I bought these off a friend and he only had 1 bolt for each, yes it is 2 bolts on each collector, but it seems the collector on the header has a nut welded to it? and i cant find any bolts to work, can I order them from slp? like I said I GLOBBED the rtv on them and its holding but I want it done right, also access to the bolts os kinda tight eh ? I can work with that but would LOVE to have the right bolts for the job, perhaps you can lead me as to where i can get these? also it seems there is already gaskets welded to the pipe? thanks for you help I appericate it and its very much needed

I'd get some pics for you if I could. Try this though, take off one of the bolts that you have, and go to Lowes or Home depot. They have a section that you can match up bolts and stuff. It would probably just be easiest to flag someone down and ask them to help you, because I can't find **** in those places!! Anyway, match up a bolt they have with the one you have and buy however many you need.

If you get the right gasket and get it lined up correctly you won't need RTV.

I hope this helps, if not let me know!! I'll see if I can get some pics

I used a gasket from a BBC pickup and it worked fine. The bolt size you need is 3/8-16 about 2 inch long.I also loaded it up with ultra copper.Tighten them as much as you can drive it for a week and retighten them.Them gasket should come off with a screwdriver/prybar.

I have a 94 with SLP shorties. They are the same except for were the A.I.R. hookup is.The driver side is bitch it is up against the oil pan.I put that one in first just started it.I used a 9/16 1/4 inch drive swivel and 6 inch extension.THat was the easiest way I found. You can use a 3/8 but is much tighter a harder to use.If you have a swivel put some tape around to prevent it from flopping all around.Plus a piece of paper around the head of the boltt help to keep in the socket. The passager side same thing just used 3/8 drive and a longer extension

The nuts that are welded on are why you don't need to buy nuts. Take the bolts that you have, that fit those nuts, go to home depot, get two more that match those, some soft gaskets and go to work!!
