93 Oil life question...

OK, apparently 93's had the oil life indicator on the cluster, and in OBD1 95's, there is a code for oil life that is factory disabled. Will enabling this enable the indicator on the dash?
TIA.

I've never seen, or heard, of it either. I don't know how it would work anyway. How would it know when you changed the oil?

Maybe they planned to use it but then decided not to. Mine (if I have one) has never lit. If it did I guess you would need to reset something at each oil change.
I'd say we're better off without it. My sister in law has a BMW with that feature. She pays $80 for an oil change at the dealer so they can reset it. I would feel like a sucker that was my car.

I know the 99 and ups have it, but they are OBDII LS1's...I'll take a pic of it tomorrow for reference. BTW, DTC 95 in tunercat says "Oil Life Diagnostic" , I turned it on to see what happened, nothing yet, obviously.

My 93 T/A owners manual doesn't say anything about an oil life indicator.

It's there, but no bulb for it. It has no real use.

OK, That makes some sense. It's like GM had it put in, but then decided not to use it.

they all have it, its there, sometimes its easier to look at it from the back. the bulb is missing for it. i guess it was there just in case but never used. on the firebirds its on the lower right corner. i dont think activating it will do anything cause there is no bulb or sensor in the oil pan. i believe the senso works on teh new cars by picking up metal deposits in the oil via some sort of magnet. i may be way off base here
