93 LT1 exhaust maniflod question
93 LT1 exhaust maniflod question
is there a gasket between the maniflods and the y pipe? i have a car i'm putting back together, and not having taken it apart, i dont know if there is a gasket there or not. the maniflods have a cone shaped part sticking down and there is not sealing surface for a flat gasket. i bought a borla off-road Y for 93-95 and the opening to the Y looks like it would accept the cone on the manifols as far as shape goes. but the size looks wrong w/ the Y being bigger. is this a self sealing design? or do i not have 93 manifolds?
Re: 93 LT1 exhaust maniflod question
Its been a while but if I remeber right there is no gasket...its a ball in flange type seal. If the pipe is for a 93 should work I guess. Just curious why you are doing the y-pipe and not headers. The most restrictive part of the entire exhaust system is the manifolds.
Re: 93 LT1 exhaust maniflod question
look here for the answer to why stock manifolds.

by the way, i got out there while i was waiting on you guys to answer. i bolted up a manifold to the Y (off the motor and out of the car) and all seemed well. funny how the guy @ O'rylies tried to sell me gaskets for this!
thanks for the help.
