My friend has an 88 vette (stock, I think) and always beat his cousin's 2000 Z28 (lid & muffler). I don't know if they went much past 80mph, but I would think the LS-1 would start to overcome the vette around there. At least that's when the 2000 Z would pass me.

I think you will get raped in a stoplight race, if he can hook.
But in a 1/4 mile, you should get him by a few lengths.

vettes come with 2.54 gears (yes thats correct) or performance axle 3.07 with an automatic

on the race, it will be a good run no doubt, the vettes are no slackers. dont be surprised if he gets you in stoplight races.

Bone stock (even OEM TIRES, new ones- but OEM tires)
17 year old driver
6spd
13.8@102

And a later model TPI vette will ROMP an LT1 f-body down the 1/8th. After that, their in trouble.

the TPI vette according to my road and track magazines "old tests , ripped out pages " it runs high 14's . congradulations on your 13.8 that is a good time . But that car will not romp a good running LT1 thrue the 1/8 thats crazy , I see them run all the time at the track and they do no romping...... . The LT1 vette's tested at 13.9 in the quarter in road and track for a 92 LT1 and they are noted to be exeptionally quciker then the old tuneport , I know a guy that owns a cherry mint 89 vette and he will not race an LT1 camaro , he says " he gets beat everytime " I dont know I have been wrong before I was just speaking from personal experience

I didn't get to race him tonight because of the rain. By the way we will be racing about a 1/4 mile on a road with very little traffic. I will update as soon as the race happens

sorry guys

You shouldn't have any trouble...not to say it will be cake, but I don't think you will lose. I've raced 3 older vettes...2 were late 80's models (the back had that angle thing to it) and the other was my friends 95. I beat all three and my camaro is by no means a beast. Everyone is right about up to sixty, but you should at least have a car on him...and then it is pretty much cake from there on out. About a month or so ago an older vette tried to race me on the highway...it was gold with a big wing on the back...and it wasn't even funny. For all I know it could of been a gold civic with a wing Anyways, if you can drive good then you should be okay...unless he has a blower or gas...

Just look for round tail lights, thats pre-LT1.

Couple mods and some TPI Vettes are claiming 13.7

Actually, 91 had the "LT1 body" and interior with the TPI engine.

Free mods get that thing to 13.7-

Not true for '87.

Standard was 2.59. Optional 2.73 and Performance Gear 3.07.
It's right in my owner's manual.

Mine's a Z52 coupe and got the 2.73 gearset.
