80 series flowmaster

I purchased an 80 series flowmaster crossflow muffler 2 1/2 inch inlet and dual outlets... it is 15 inches long as opposed to 21 inches of the stock muffler... I had a plan for it using minimum mods and old parts... let me know if this sounds ok...
I'm going to scoot the muffler over to the passenger side so that it fits on the inlet fine, and then reuse the outlet pipe (i'll have to cut it off) from the stock muffler... that should also be flush...
that least six extra inches on the other side... so i was going to reuse the other side... weld a 6" extension on (i was going to sand both outlet pipes and paint {high heat}) that way everything should fit... but the muffler will be off-center... that's ok right?
(also... the outlet pipes are 2 1/4, so i was going to open up the ends that go into the muffler with a tool my dad has... i'll need the 2 1/4 on the TIP end of the outlet pipe because i spent a lot of time prepping and painting my stock exhaust tips and they look great... especially with my rear valance.)

Let me know what you think! thanks.

Wink turned out great!

i'll tell you what... i bought the 80 series flowmaster crossflow muffler for 75 bucks (summit) and then had a local shop fabricate some outlet pipes for me (($79.50) and it turned out just as good if not BETTER than a cat-back kit... everything is welded solid, (no leaks) it was only $150 (all together) instead of $250-$650... it's a hell of a lot louder too. just thought i'd let you know how it turned out.

It wouldn't be better than a catback, a catback is 3" and the stock pipe is either 2.5" or 2.75"
So an aftermarket catback flows better than a stock I-Pipe with a muffler.
