70mph RPMs with 3.73 (a4/m6)

Just trying to get an idea, and compare...

i'll be getting 3.73s, so i wanted to know the cruise RPMs at 3.73s on a4?

also 4.10s at 70 too please

even better if u guys can tell me m6 RPMs, so i can compare

i assume 2500-2600@70 with 3.73s
and 3000@70 with 4.10s?

no clue about m6 tho

I am not for sure on the RPM's at 70, but I run 3000 at 80 in an A4.

2600 @ 70mph and 3000 @ 80mph for the 3:73s. Not sure about the 4:10s though.

At 80 MPH, I'm at 2400 RPM with a M6 (4.10s). At 70 MPH, more or less at 2250 RPM.

4.10s

I have refered to that before and it is not correct. According to it I should be at 88 mph at 3000 RPM's .

Every online calculator I have been to, including the one I linked to and the one on this forums sticky post, say the same thing. So I guess they are all wrong?

Despite the drive ratio and other variables, there isn't a variable for parasitic losses due to the A/T condition or the clutch slippage on a M/T. Anothor area of loss is the differential itself. Some diffs require more energy than others (ie 9-inch vs. 12-bolt). Those variables aren't part of the equation.

Cool

What does that have to do with RPMs while cruising along. Clutch slippage and looses through an automatic transmission are a nonissue in this instance. While you are cruising at say 80 mph there is no clutch slippage and the torque converter is locked up so there are no losses through the transmission either.

Using 2.73 as the baseline then....

engine will turn:

3.23 = + 20% more RPMs
3.43 = + 26% more RPMs
3.73 = + 40% more RPMs

Is this correct? After looking at this I am more inclined to go for the 3.43s. I think I have just made up my mind...

3.73's are more fun for acceleration but if you do any regular highway driving over 70 mph get 3.42's.

I am starting to think my tach is off by about 500.
