70% TPS? Cable stretched?

Has anyone heard of the throttle cable stretching out? I scanned and was only getting 70% throttle even though I was mashing it to the floor. It's a '94 with a lot of miles do you suppose that's what happened?

I just put in a new TPS sensorto freshen some things up, but the old one wasn't getting up to 100% throttle either.

Did I maybe put it in wrong? What do you all think?

What's your TPS read when the blades are closed? Should be about .5V; are the holes slotted on the TPS housing? You may need to change the position of the TPS to get full range.

I used datamaster to scan it both times.

With it just sitting there closed it's at 0.7V.

It's not slotted either it's brand new.

Move the throttle lever at the TB by hand and watch your Datamaster display. This should help tell you if it is a cable problem. The engine does not have to be running, just have the key ON, so Datamaster can read what the pcm is seeing.

I was thinking about doing that, but it was already a little late in the evening for that. I'll get to it tomorrow and post if I can't make sense of the findings.

Thanks,
Ross

I have heard of the cable stretching, so if you find out that's the case you really have 2 replacement options.

1. Stocker; un-adjustable piece though, costs ~$15
2. Lokar; adjustable, Billet/Stainless, Costs ~$40

I'm running the Lokar unit, I broke the stocker, and am of the mindset if you have to replace it anyways, upgrade...

Yes, they can stretch. How do I know? Cause I have the WORST hesitation ever in my car because of it. You can start pulling the cable manually and it takes a little more pulling than normal to begin to rev up. I purchased another stocker but if that one ever stretches too, then I'll go to the Lokar.
