600rwp with an NA LT1 opinions

Just a quick opinion, my end goal with my car is 600 rwhp botem line. Howevr i want to acomplich this NA wit an LT1 motor. Is this a thesiable idea. I was thinking a 407 ci. with a solid roller and and maybe some 18 degreeheads and revving to about 6,800 rpms. custome shet metal intake custom 2in headers with no cats. emmisions is of no issue. Just everyones thoughts and opinions. thanks for the input,

There are a couple of LT1s making 650 flywheel horsepower (I think Jimlab and Mindgame are there), but you won't do 650 rwhp NA. Their motors are full on and didn't make that level. You would have to have around 700+ fwhp to get 600 rwhp assuming only 15% drivetrain loss. My guess would be around $25K to build a motor that cutting edge.

I hate to be a "doom and gloom" kinda guy, but my bet is that it's not gonna happen NA.

I would think that would be really really hard to do. It would probably be cheaper to build a turbo/supercharged motor combination that would lay down the numbers you want than building a NA motor that radical. Plus you could still drive the car on the street with the turbo/supercharger. But a NA 700 hp car is not going to be streetable.
just my .02

Just an example of what it takes to get over 600 rwhp NA:

LS1 - 414 cid
14.2/1 compression (!!!)
330 cfm, 15 degree heads
274/278 at .050 cam
.785/.776 lift (valve springs won't last more than 500 miles)
Custom 2 -> 2.125 stepped headers

612 rwhp
552 rwftlb

As the builder, Allan, said, "it is intended for race only. RADICAL idle(no vacuum) and dosen't clean up till around 3500 RPM."

Take the time to read this:

first off I hate when people say na lt1 but i going to put on 18 degree sbc heads. BS that is not a lt1 nor is putting on lt4 heads the min you put lt4 heads on a lt1 guess what you got one fast lt4. when you add sbc heads you have one nice creative monster.

A lt1 that is na will use lt1 heads ,intake, etc.

The thread was in regards to LT1 motors.... BTW, I'd like to hear a little more about the supposed 800 hp NA "option".

Why isn't it a LT1 if it still uses the LT1 IM and block? So what should all those guys out there with LS1s call their motors with 4.8, or 5.3 heads on them with the LS6 IM?

Anyhoo, back to the thread. I'd suggest lowering your goal to 500rwhp N/A then add a nitrous kit to get the extra 100-150rwhp. Get some nice 15 degree heads and a fair size hyrdaulic roller and you should be there. 600 is a bit optimistic.

when i said NA LT1 i just meant using the exsting block that is in my car. Not re-using the same LT1 heads. Say maybe some alumunum ported SBC heads. now do you think that it is possible?

Don't mean to doubt you or anything, but are you sure you're not thinking of the 427 ZL1's?

TransAmTony, that was directed to the statement about 600 and 800 hp options made by SDAKOVIC, sorry for the confusion.

In regards to you're question, its not impossible, but its damn near close.

Alot of cubes, alot of compression and the right heads and cam, could get you close, but it wouldnt be too streetable. Forget about pumpgas.
