6 quarts oil too much? Oil on plugs and hard starts, possible oil issue?

I recently put in 6qts of oil, my f-bod friend recommended it.
Pulled the plugs and almost all of them smell like fuel and oil. Some had oil all over them.
Is 6qrts too much on a stock motor? Can it cause the problems I'm having?

Check your dipstick to see if its over the OK mart. I think i use 5 or just a little over 5 quarts.

Although it would not make the difference of a full qt., but did you at least compensate by putting on a larger oil filter? Put in what the owner manual states, an extra qt. of oil is excessive. If you are running a larger oil pan, then you can run extra oil. If you are running a slightly larger oil filter, then you can get away with running an additional 1/4 or 1/2 qt. But dont throw extra oil into a stock motor, its not going to help.

it does have the regular size filter.
I know not to use extra anymore, I just figured my friend knew what he was talking about.
But my question was if it could cause hard starts and oil on the plugs?

I dont think that would do it. But low compression might. Do a compression test to see if the engine is still in good condition.
