5th gear problems.

5th gear problems.

my 5th gear doesn't like to go into gear.

it'll grind really bad or will grind alittle bit when going in.

any suggestions?

I would think that it'd either be a synchronizer, or some screwed up gear teeth from grinding...etc.

Sounds like syncros to me.

Same thing happend to my 1st and 2nd, it's in the shop right now.

do I have to completely redo my clutch?

or what's all involved in replacing s a sync?

syncros are in the tranny, which means money!

Probably need a rebuild, sycros, bearings, etc. (soft parts).

Your probably looking at $800-1200.

Take it to a local tranny shop and see what they say.

Yah, I drove mine with the sycros gone for about 7 months until the tranny got stuck in second.
