58mm Throttle Body?

Hello,

Just wondering if there's any performance gains to be seen if I add a 58mm TB to my engine. My only actual engine mods are TB enhancer, MSD ignition, Edel Brock Headers, CAI, and Pulleys.

The TB is what puts air in your motor. The stock one is plenty good enough until you do major mods, heads, etc.

I've heard the same thing... that stock one is fine up untill something like 350 HP at the wheels.. or maybe it's 450 at the wheels.. can't remember. It's something like that. But I wouln't put a 58mm on a near stock engine.

I think the stock tb is fine up until around 350hp.

Yeah.....I'd go with a 52 tops unless your busting 400rwhp and even that I think the 52 can handle. But if your motor is more or less stock stick with the stocker.

No gains at all to be seen with going to a 58mm?

Just asking since the 58 was like 10bucks more.

I believe that if you go with thr 58 you have to port the intke manifold so add that to your cost. A 52mm is fine up till around 450 horsepower, so I'd buy that if your gonna do a throttle body.

You might want to look at gears instead, you'll have a bigger difference with them than a 52mm tb at this point IMO.

there was a formula posted by kmook a little while back to see what throttle body was needed for your motor. Some report gains some dont. I would go with a more "guaranteed" mod like headers, etc.

If you want to go bigger, the 52 is probably your best bet. If you get a re worked 52 using your stocker as trade in, it might be considerably less expensive than getting a 58 which is entirely new casting.

Got mine from AS&M. Quite satisfied. There is also someone on this site who does them.

I would steer clear of some brands because of some minor problems in fitment, etc.JMHO
