52mm TB....Holley vs. BBK

Which one is considered better of these two throttle bodies?

I have heard of a few fitment issues regarding the holley but thought it a good idea to ask first.

Let me know your experiences with them good/bad.

I had a 52mm BBK,sold it and bought a 58mm Holley-the BBK doesn't look as nice as the Holley, but for the money it was a better TB-don't waste your money on the Holley.

Having seen and delt with both, the fitment issue of the holley is almost non exsistant. If you have to modify anything it won't be much. The bbk whistles really bad. Makes it sound like you have a supercharger or something. That can be fixed by grinding on something in there. When it comes to it, the Holley looks better, but is more expensive. Both have minor drawbacks, but more or less comes down to looks. If you like shiney stuff, get the holley, if you want a stock look, get the BBK.

Why not get yours ported to a 52mm.
Just does not make since to spend that type of money on one unless you are going to a 58mm.

I picked up one for $215 than when I return mine to them I will get $30 back, total cost $185

Yeah the finish on the inside of my BBK throttle body sucks. It looks like they ported it out with some 40 grit sand paper. Nothing a little dremeling didn't take care of but i shouldn't have had to do it in the first place. Other than that everything fit fine.

Ken95Z28: can I get some more details?

Has anyone else done this?

As much as I like shiney things, I prefer things that work well and as expected, so I still am not sure.

Keep the opinions coming!

Personally I would go with AS&M but if your heart is set on Holley & BBK then I would go Holley

Sure thing, I found a guy on Ebay and talked to him about his TB's that he takes the 48mm and makes them 52mm.

This is the one that I'm getting.

52mm TB

I talked to him a couple of times and found other people that was using his TB's and is very happy with them.

I have the 52mm BBK throttle body and I'm kinda mad that i wasted the 300+ dollars on it. The stock one is perfectly fine and will last u well up to 400 HSP (if u even plan on going that high)

When my TB was installed, I had a lot of problems with the throttle linkage sticking at certain points and the car would often idle as high as 1800 RPM. u would have to tap the gas a few times to knock it back down to the set idle position.

I had that problem as well. I installed it in 30 degree weather, but I havent driven it since. If it keeps sticking, what can be done?

I had bought a bbk 52mm and never installed it as a found a ported stock i liked better. But when i sold the BBK the buyer emailed me back after having the same problem. I had no idea anything was wrong with it but i guess he said that the rod that holds the throttle body blades wasn't connected right to either the spring or the part where the cable connects, im not sure where the problem was but it was in that area. I know he said he had a welder fix the problem and it works fine now. I wish i could be of more help but i never got to see where the problem was as it was in new york by that time. Thought id mention it,
Dan
