I've heard of people having problems with ported TBs on autos, and since my car is at 84,000 and I don't know squat about trannies I'd like to avoid a rebuild. Would a shifter kit offset any problems I might have?
Also, should I get a mechanical shifter kit or the electronic one with the mysterious black box? I was wondering as to how much difference each one would make.
This is my first post, but I've been visiting this forum for months. Most of the problems/questions I have seem to be answered just by viewing other people's posts.
About myself: In the Marines, 3 yrs., had a 96 V6 drop-top, but it was too slow, so I traded in for a Z in August. Much more fun. If only it was as reliable as my 6 was...

Well, I'm planning on doing all the bolt-ons over the winter and possibly LT4 hotcam or CC305 in the spring, maybe even some heads if I can afford it. Thought I would get all the little stuff out of the way before the big stuff. Don't want to break anything in the process.

I've got quite a few of our throttle bodies on cars with high mileage and have never heard of any problems. I've got them on everything from bone stock Formulas to Atljars 11 second Z. Haven't heard fo a problem even once.
I've had one on my auto for over 3 years now and have a flawless trans.
I can't speak for any aftermarket manufacturers though
