I would say with the 52 you would notice some gains but the 58 is still too big without heads.

I was wondering the same thing, or is the stocker just fine?

How about with some juice?

If you're buying another TB anyway, then you may as well get the 58. I presume you plan other mods...?

In a certain sense you can't have too big a TB, but of course reality has a way of making life difficult for you.

You will of course need a new tune, and you should be aware that this will make throttle tip-in more ... abrupt? I guess that's the word.

If you have a loose converter, you may not notice much. If you have a stick, you'll want to pay more attention to what gear you are in, because it'll be a lot easier to bog it.

Finally, you get what you pay for. There are some disagreements about who makes the best 58mm, but if you stick with the quality brands you should be alrights. You may run into issues where you need to "tweak" things, such as the blades ([i]Or blade, if you get a monoblade[/]i.), or TPS switch.

Re: 52mm or 58mm TB with CC306?

I do alot of searching, I stumbled on this and the other one and decided to bring them back.

Well I already have a AS&M 58mm and was wondering to keep it or not. As long as it wouldnt hurt my CC306 I'll keep it since I know it will help with my N2O.

Thanks.

Is your intake ported? If not it wont make a difference. You could use a 52mm. If you want to sell it I need one I waited untill the last min, and if I dont find a used one by tomorrow, Im ordering a new one, lol.

Vultures! I have been thinking of selling it along with my LT4 topend, but I am going to have to call my buddy to see if he can port the stock intake while its off for the cam install. I should know by the end of today and if I do I'll PM you guys and let you know.

Vultures!

Re: 52mm or 58mm TB with CC306?

I would install the sotck TB (if you have it) and go to the dyno. Install a vacume guage and make a pass (NOTE: use the physical gauge to varify your PCM is getting the same info). If you have manafold vacume at redline then change the TB and run it again. This way you won't be guessing at it.
I had the stock intake and TB when I first did my AI 190cc cam and head swap. I don't like to buy parts that I don't need, so I test after virtually every change. This time I needed to upgrade (I had vacume during the whole pass). I ended up with AI porting my intake and I got the AS&M 58mm (not cheap), but it HAD to be done.
Additionally, nitrous won't care what size your TB is, that's not the point. Remember, nitrous carries it's own oxygen and it's injected to the intake at over 1000 PSI. If your engine is not starving for air leave it alone.
Good luck.

Re: 52mm or 58mm TB with CC306?

Since I already have the 58mm AS&M, I'll probably just have it ported to match, since my buddy Grease on here can do it. Then when I get it dyno'd I'll swap the stocker on to see and if it loses or gains I can always sell it later.
