Re: 500+ rwhp

you are gonna need 400+ cubes, BADASS heads, and a BIG cam....

As well as a new TB, headers....

It isnt gonna be cheap by any means. You might want to reconsider and try 450 rwhp... 500+ rwhp is gonna run you 2-3x more than 450.

A buddy of mine has a 383 with beefy forged internals and he is putting out 450 rwhp on a massive custom cam and TEA heads. He also sprays 250 DP nitrous... so he has 700 rwhp... its a sick ride.

Re: 500+ rwhp

Sounds to me like you don't really want 500rwhp, you just want a # to impress your friends.

What do you want to do with the car?

Re: 500+ rwhp

if i were you i would build a 355 with an ati procharger. i have seen some kickass results with that. of course you will need some good heads and a good cam. you dont need nitrous, but you could use it to be even faster than you would be with the 355. price varies due to where you get the parts and who you have do it.

Re: 500+ rwhp

if u did a 383 with a t-trim a set of loyed Elliot heads and a big cam u will be making alot more then 500rwhp. my setup makes 575rwhp with 12psi of boost. Its not gona be cheap by no means. plan on 2500$(used) for the supercharger alone

Re: 500+ rwhp

How much are you prepared to spend to meet that goal?

And yeah... I know everyone gets upset when another member mentions a HP goal but some just need to get over it. Everyone is in this hobby for different reasons.... some want HP, some want TQ and some just want low ET's. Who cares.

This and you need to be honest about what your expectations are for the car.

500rwhp is expensive, and high maintenance.

Re: 500+ rwhp

Easiest & cheapest route is N2O. Do a mild 355 build up and hit it with a small shot & you're there. 95Bird just made 503rwhp & 535rwtq with a 75 shot on his 355... through 4.71 gears at that. He has approx $3,500 in the motor itself and the cost of the N2O kit & associated components.

Re: 500+ rwhp

Healthy heads and cam from Sar2K, Ai, Lloyd Elliot with a 100 shot of gas, would get you there easily.
