5-6k miss

get around 5-6k shifts at 6200, it misses a few times and the mph and rpm gauge goes up and down erraticly till it finally grabs and shifts then its smooth untill its up top again. did a cam swap, added a brand new gm opti, new wires, plugs. I dont think fouled plugs would cause that to happen? Only thing i can think of would be a new coil? Everywhere else is fine untill 5000 or so? Ive searched a while but nothing that seems to fit my problems with the tacs going up and down. Ive got a 97z

found this kinda sounds similar. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ight=miss+tach

yeah, sounds like the coil or opti, even though its new they have been known to last 200k or 200, kinda a crapshoot...

Bad plugs, wires, or a weak coil can lead to this type of problem. I would double check your wires and plugs to verify they are in proper condition. Then I would test the coil. Shoebox has ignition coil troubleshooting steps on his site.
