5.0 sounding exhaust

I know everyone will be flaming me and I know that there have been other posts about this but I was just wondering.

Are there any LT1 cat backs that sound like the 5.0 mustangs? I have been considering the Dynomax super turbo set up and the Magnaflow set up. I don't wanna go true dual. I just wanna get somethin very deep and mellow not raspy

if you're going for deep and mellow with no rasp go with a dynomax ultraflo direct replacement muffler. trust me. there are many things that make a 5.0 sound like it does...most of important of which is cylinder firing order and true duals/headers from the factory.

I like the sound of 5.0L too... BUT I like the sound of LT1's better cause it just screams more power... and it seems like no matter what kinda exh. you put on a 5.0L they all sound alike.. but no LT1 sounds the same

The LT1 sounds way better and completely different than the 5.0. It's deeper, and more powerful sounding. My car sounds very mean when I go buy at even a normal pace let alone WOT.

LS1 sounds the best in my opinion. But I'm LS1 biased, thats what I wanted in the first place.

Mustangs sound clean and mellow mostly because they have true duals with an h-pipe, tuned mufflers on each side, and a long pipe after the mufflers. The equal lengths on each side, coupled with the h-pipe cancel out most of the odd engine orders that are typical in other exhaust systems, including the Camaro's. The longer pipes after the muffler really do make a difference.

If you want sound closer to the Mustang's, you need equal-length duals with an x or h-pipe and a tuned silencer on each side. It won't package on our cars.

Nateh's pretty much nailed it. I agree they do sound very clean and tough, however its also true that they all sound the same. Every buddy of mine that has a mustang (all of them) all sound exactly the same, its really kinda comical.

They sound the same by Ford's design. It's the sound they ask for in development.

Has anyone heard these exhausts tho? Are they deep or raspy?
The Mustang doesn't exhibit a very deep tone and it is quite smooth, not raspy or ratty. This is because nearly all their sound comes from the fundamental firing frequency (1X firing frequency) with very few lower frequencies. The Camaro exhaust emits frequencies that are at odd multiples in addition to the fundamental (1/2X firing, 1.5X firing, several others).

Why would you want you LT1 to sound like a 5.0??? They have a loud empty and kind of annoying dron sound to them.
