4th Optispark!!!!!!

Okay so the opti is the source of my high rpm miss that i have been trying to track down... Turns out my waterpump was going out and had been weeping on it for quite some time now. This is the 3rd one for me to buy and I must say... I am getting TIRED OF IT. I was hoping that this one would last til the debut of the MSD one... But NOPE! The first opti that came on the car crapped out at 50k due to oil leaking into it and bad waterpump #1. The second opti got cracked when i wrecked the car a year ago... And this one crapped out once again to a failing waterpump... SO, this time i bought an electric WP and am HOPING that this will be the last opti I have to buy for a good while... Sorry guys just wanted to vent.

Sounds like you had good reasons for them to go out. Sorry about your luck though.

This comes up almost every day. Do a search. They have not made it to market yet.

Re: 4th Optispark!!!!!!

MSD opti is gonna have a year warranty and cost twice as much as a GM opti!

Sounds like a rip off to me!

Re: 4th Optispark!!!!!!

Where are you getting yours from? I went through like 6-7 Autozone (warranty replacements) and finally said screw it. GM one has worked perfect ever since.

These things are sensitive to water, but its not all that fragile.

And the people that scream delteq, yet its a nice options, but the optical portion of the opti must still function, and that is what was bad on everyone I have had. Never had a cap/rotor go bad.

Yeah the water is ruining the optical sensor, its not destroying plastic.

Re: 4th Optispark!!!!!!

Doesn't sound like the opti's fault...stop your stuff from leaking and don't get into an accident, and your opti won't fail.

Re: 4th Optispark!!!!!!

Did you ever try to let the opti dry out? I must say I have only had 1 opti fail and that was due to a rotor exploding... no high, low, mid RPM misses. Seriously I see all these OPTI SUCKS theads but Ive never seen one on any Fbody around here.
