4th Gen Camaro distributor to fire wall clearance

I was looking for some good pictures or someone else who had done it opinion. I have several aftermarket and stock distributors on hand to choose from. Would a smaller diameter but regular height distributor or shorter height fat distributor like a comp 9000 be better to help clearance on the fire wall and wipers?

with some slight trimming I'm able to fit a GM HEI in mine.

Are y’all putting distributors on the LT1 through a modified intake or are y’all just strictly talking SBC engines?

if you're using LT1 heads you have to use the LT1 carb intake. I think summit and jegs still sell them. Part # 24502592

The engine is a gen 1 SBC.The car is a 99 camaro. Still researching and deciding what parts to get and use. Hope to get he cam swapped into it and the heads swapped this time home. Even if I decide not to drop this engine into the camaro it went be wasted effort. I will just drop it back into my 55 Chevy project for later on.

The main thing is i don't want to butcher up the car any. Nothing I am in a rush to do. I also hope to do some test fitting this time home from work as well.

There's really no way around it. If you want to run a conventional style rear mount distributor you're going to have to notch, cut, remove, etc. areas around the cowl for room.

here a 93-97 Camaro with an sbc and a HEI. not my car but gives you an idea.
