Unhappy 4L60E wont shift down manually ?

For past 2 days I put the auto tranny into gear 2, and it wont kick down. If I step on the gas at crusing levels, then it kicks down, but wont do it manually. 100K on the tranny(yesterday). lol ., any ideas ?

I would get it checked out for any problems at a shop and go from there.

What speed are you trying to get the trans to shift down at ? IF your going too fast the electronic unit will prevent you. If your going relititvly slow, than it may be a problem that you should get looked at .

I'd have it looked at by a dealer and a trans shop. Hopefully they wont take it for a ride and ask why the hell do you want it to do that. They like to ask question in place of fixing the problem especially if its under waranty.

Manual downshifts at those speeds to 2'nd gear are probably not enjoyed by your tranny. Certainly, I wouldn't do it on a regular basis expecting the tranny to live.

I run 2.73's so @ 60 mph in 2nd gear its not the same as running a 3.73. Was just seeing if anyone else had a simular experiance, I did a seach and came up with nothing.

With 273 it shouldn't be bad, but I've heard these trannies don't like to be manually d'shifted anyway.
