4L60E Stall
4L60E Stall
Hey was wondering what is involved in switchen out the stall to a bigger one? Want to get it done but dont' know what kind of stuff I'm lookin at here. And how lond would it take? The trans is still in the car. Need to drop the trans change the converter and put it back up. what kind of time frame am I lookin at? Thanx
First need to decide which stall to get, that pretty much depends on the feel of it. The typical street stall to get is a 2800 stall.
If you go any higher and you have an OBDI system you stand a risk of the 1-3 shift problem. Programming is the only way to get rid of it.
If you can do it yourself you can save a few bucks, typically it cost about $200-$250 to have someone do it.
Typical install time depends on type of equipement that you have, plan on at least 4-6hrs. There is alot in the way the must be removed before the tranny is dropped, driveshaft, disconnecting the converter, transmission lines than carefully lower the tranny down. Just take your time, it's a fairly painless job, but messy.

IMO if you can find someone to do it for $200 or less then do it. I smelled like ATF for a week. Not to mention the mess it makes in the driveway.
