4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
I need the seals and I got the text from my friend saying don't bother brining all the parts till you have this. I don't get what he's saying. So is this part only through GM? I know this may be a dumb question but I am in the rush again and maybe I'm having a brain fart.
Thanks for any help.....

Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
Go to autozone into the help section. Buy the oil drain plug seals. Not sure of the size. I took the crossover pipe bolt with me to the store. It's a banjo bolt on the back of the head that carries coolant across. There are 2 banjo bolts, so you'll need 4 of the seals. I think they come in packs of 2.
He's right, if you don't have these you will spring leaks.
As far as I know this will work fine, as I was never able to find the proper seal for this banjo bolt. I bought this on a whim back in 2007 when I went to put it back together and coolant shot out from the back of the heads. It scared me cause I thought it was a gasket. Turned out to be this, and he's right, if you don't have new seals the old ones will not seal.
I used these in 07 and didn't leak a drop until I pulled the motor again this past August. I used the same seal in August and up to now is not leaking a drip. It's basically a steel seal with a rubber coating. Should work fine for you, it has for me.

Just get the oil drain plug seals. I wish I could remember the size but I don't.

Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
Here in WI they don't let us buy AC refrigerant so parts stores don't have much in the way of AC repair stuff out front but I have also heard that there are similar seals in the AC system that can be easily found and substituted. Have not tried it though.
Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
The same seal on my AC lines are the same seals that come in the drain plug packet. There is no difference. You are correct.
Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
Well at least posting it helps the second guy to arrive at the parts store in one night looking for them. after the first leaves them short.
Don't you hate when you multiples of something and they have what you need but not quite as many....................................

Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
I don't get how nobody knew what a drain plug seal was. That's shameful. Did you check in the oil plug help section? I even sent you a link.
Re: 4 seals for the coolant crossover pipe?
There's been several times I've walked into a parts store asking for things and they give me an "ummmmm uhhhhh" look and I just walk off searching on my own. Even if a part or item shows up online it still may not be at your local store. Take the part number from the link he gave you and go into advance and ask for it. If they don't have one at least they can special order, or find you something they have in stock that would work since they would know what you need after looking it up.
