4.10's??
One more question...
Are 4.10's a good 1/4 mile mod?
I mean I've heard from many people that they give a real good "seat of the pants" feeling, and that this alone would make them worth having on an M6 car.
But what I would like to know is, are they good for 1/4 mile acceleration assuming the car has just bolt-ons and improved traction from DR's (once the cam is changed and other mods that would give you more top-end hp, I imagine 4.10's are ideal, however it will be a while before i touch the heads/cam). It seems like you would just run out of gear fast and lose time shifting. Am I wrong?
Thanks in advance.

*EDIT* Nevermind, I just read the other thread you started!

Only problem with 4.10's and a fast car is having to shift to 5th gear at the 1000ft mark.
Once you shift to 5th, you lose a little bit of pull.
If you trap under 115mph, I think you'll be fine with 4.10's.
Oh, and the car dropped 7 tenths in the 1/4 going from 3.42 to 4.10 and adding LCA Relocation Brackets.

It depends on where you set your rev limiter. At 6200, the speed is at 115, but at 6500, it's at 121. If you have enough power that you're having to shift into fifth before the traps, you need a longer gear. IMO, 4.10s are a perfect match for most bolt-on or H/C f-bodies. They should have come with them from the factory.

The car was fine with the 4.10's without the LPE cam, once the cam, LT's and x pipe were installed the car was trapping much higher.
I have had both, 3.73 and currently 4.10. I like the feel of the 4.10's on the street better than the 3.73. Not bad at all for me on the interstate, but I dont do 85 or above on a regular basis. Like others have said, you will have to figure out if you can use them in the quarter. Ken
