Which is better for a daily driver?

Why 398 and not 396? To answer your question though, most of the time the 383 is considerably cheaper to build and it is better for a daily driver. (it normally lasts more miles than the 396/398)

How much horsepower are you looking for in your "daily driver"?

How big of a cam do you want?

IMO the 396 isnt worth all the extra money/ problems you may encounter along the way. Put the extra money you spend for the crank on heads or upgrade your valve train. Money better spent in my opinion...

If you are ever planning on running boost or nitrous, the 383 has thicker(stronger) piston ring lands, and will hold up better than the 396 pistons.

I know a 398 goes like stink!! I raced one a while back and he walked ALL over me...I may as well have been on a bicycle!! I think he said it was making around 450hp with LT4 heads and hot cam!
