383 times and broken timing chain
Re: 383 times and broken timing chain
You can find that chain at Scoggin Dickey, www.sdpc2000.com
It is for a '87 and up hydraulic roller cam.
The billet steel heat treated gears are made in Austrailia, the chain in Germany.
The timing cover needs to be clearanced a little bit and you have to run an electric water pump.

I'd check into what caused the chain to break... before thinking it was the chain that failed.... Also factory Timing chains are pre-stretched ,meaning they will have slack in them....
Re: 383 times and broken timing chain
Some of the slack ya may have is due to the smaller crank sprocket GM spect out for the LT-1.They do this to try to take some load off of the front cam brg with the gear drive pump.
Ya can get a Cloyes ED single roller with the GM spect crank sprocket or a standard size(oversized as compared to the GM one).According to Cloyes this chain is as strong or stronger than a double roller based on pin size
