HP is how fast you hit a wall. TQ is how hard you go through it.

I love the silly old hp vs. tq argument people try to start online .

If you want a "stroker" go for it... but if you're out to race, how many high end race engines do you come across with strokers in them, vs. very oversquare setups? If you're towing or trying to build something that will smoke the tires off idle to entertain yourself, strokers are great. If you're trying to make a ton of power... it's all about time. Look into it .

This is one of the absolute dumbest things I've ever heard (not to be a bastard to you individually ), and everyone keeps repeating this tripe. Not only is it wrong, but hell it's backwards. I can apply torque to a wall all I want, but im not doing a damned thing unless I move it... then all that force turns into "work."

Power is what moves you, period.

I view TQ as twisting force, HP is work over time, by its true definition. Average TQ and peak TQ (take your pick) have an effect then on average HP and/or peak HP, where it falls and how much of it. So a flat TQ curve may make less peak HP but it has a nice amount of HP everywhere, remember HP by definition is our ability to move an object so many feet in so many seconds, work, work = moving.

The one that peaks higher will be faster because you are carrying more centrifugal force through on your launch, and also on your shifts.
