I would upgrade at least the injectors to 30#s if your pump is good, if your fuel pump has any doubt replace it. Definately get a base program for your new mods, a new motor that runs very rich wcan wash out the rings and allow them not to seat properly.
I use the Hooker Longtubes with a 3 inch ypipe into a 3 inch cat-back, works very nice and doesnt seem to choke it much(get a cut-out for the track). Follow the breakin procedures that your machinist or engine builder gives you.
Remember a 383 will eat up duration that a 350 would have a hard time with so get a cam that is designed for your needs, not a 350s. Heads need to flow well.

Hey man, i dont mean to be rude...But it looks like you need to do a LOT of research before you even think about a 383 yet.

Unless i'm the only one that thinks this? If so, then im sorry.

Just by your message, i can tell that you need to check up on a lot of things. In my eyes, your still a long time away from the 383 and building it with the exact parts you want.

I mean, i even need a LOT more research to do, and i already have my 383 in my garage waiting...

First start off small, headers ( do u have emmisions or not?), suspension things, think about the cam, heads etc...

If you have about a good handful of money that you can spend at once, then maybe you can do it all, but if not, start off with the basic bolt ons first.. if you then still have at least like 5k+ sitting around, you'll be in business.

But its good to ask questions and get all the help you need, cuz thats exactly how i learned!

So dont worry about the breaking in of the motor just quite yet.

good luck!
