383 Plan...need suggestions..

Here are the plans for the stroker motor. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I am trying to get everyones opinion on this.

Heads/Intake/Valvetrain:
-AFR 195cc LT4 with CNC porting with 2.02/1.60 Ferrea Valves with AFR Hydra-rev kit
-CompCams Pro Magnum 1.6 NSA Roller Rockers
-CompCams Chromemoly pushrods
-CompCams 7/16 rocker studs
-CompCams Titanium reatainers
-CompCams 10 degree superlocks
-CompCams Guideplates
-CompCams 987-16 Valvesprings
-CompCams XE 236/242 camshaft
-CompCams 'R' Series lifters
-GMPP LT4 Extreme Duty Timing chain
-LT4 Intake manifold
-BBK 58MM Throttle Body

Bottom End:
-JE 12:1 Pistons and Plasma Moly rings
-Scat Forged Superlite Crank
-Scat Forged H-beams (6" rod)
-Melling High volume pump/HD shaft/HD sleeve/HD stud
-Canton Pan
-Oliver Splayed Main Caps (4-bolt)
-All Clevite 77 Bearings
-All ARP studs/bolts

Anything I am missing here?? So far these are the plans...any suggestion for me. I am mainly concerned with how the camshaft will respond to the heads.

Thanks

That's the only problem that I see. The Comp guideplates don't line up the valvetrain correctly(the spacing is different between traditional SBC heads and LT1 heads). I ran the Comps but just recently swapped to GM P/N 14011051 plates. The valvetrain lines up much better now. I ran the Comps for nearly 10,000 miles, but on one occasion bend both pushrods on the #8 cylinder. I'm not sure of the cause, but I don't think the guideplates having the pushrods misaligned helped any.

Also, you might want to get a custom grind cam to match the heads and your goals for the car instead of picking a cam ahead of time. I went with a XE 230/236 on a 110LSA, but I wish I had done a little more digging and matched a cam to my heads. Anyhow, it sounds like a very nice setup that you've got planned. Good luck with it.

IMO, it seems like a lot of bottom end for the 400+ rwhp I expect. Sure the forged crank and pistons are nice, but a cast Scat 9000 and KB hypereutectic pistons should be plenty unless you spray quite a bit. The caps (installed) are going to be pricey, and again, IMO, overkill, unless you spray a LOT.

95CamaroZ-28 makes a good point about a custom cam fitted to your engine/car/driveline. The cost is a push. IMO, with XE 3316 and 3317 lobes, 236/242 might be too much duration. Also, cam and static CR shoud be matched; less cam, more DCR. Consult a LT1 engine builder.

Also, you might have the manifold matched to the heads (not gaskets). Have whoever machines it out for 58 mm TB do it after you get the heads; better yet, buy all the stuff from the engine builder who specs your cam.

My $.02.

AFR heads come with guide plates, you don't need to buy other ones.

I actually did plan on spraying in this motor, thus the reason for the bottom end being so stout.

I will have to look into the GM guideplates as I don't want to be screwing up pushrods all the time. I'm glad you mentioned that as I wasn't aware. AFR will come with guideplates then??? Anybody used these??? They don't have similar problems as compcams does do they???

Thanks
