well if you run the cloyes double rolller, its about $70 for the chain, you have to grind the back side of the timing chain cover pretty good all around where the chain goes to clearance it. and, you need to plug the hole in the cover where the w/p driveshaft comes out. I used some jbweld and the next size up flat freeze plug. the flat ones are pretty thick, not thin like the typical freeze plugs. I think it was 1 1/4" or 1 1/8". people have also used coins, or any other flat steel in there. Im prety sure you wont be able to use the crank sensor anymore. but not positive. Id do a search to see what the other 1996-97 guys have done.

Your crank reluctor needs to go, the clearancing of the timing set, and the driveshaft hole is pretty much everything. I got my double roller from CMS, but supposedly any double roller for an 87+ factory roller block will work.

another point is that the cms chain isnt supposed to need as much clearancing as the cloyes chain. and its a few bucks cheaper I think.

With the cloyes youll need to clearance the TC.. i did anyway. Not a big deal though. The part number is 3145.

You can run OBD2 I believe however you will not get any misfire data since youll need to dump the reluctor ring around the crank.

Damn Justin, your getting good at pulling the motor out.
You didn,t use my new cart did you?
Sucks that the suspicions turned out to be true.
At least they are backing up the work they did ( I had my doubts but its all good) hopefully you will get to drive it a few months before the rear end breaks..........

Yep, the next one should come out in 2 hours or so. Paul got a new cart made, and its narrower but its still about an inch too wide on each side. He's planning on building a few more I think. Those carts are SAHWEET.

I have high hopes the rear will last all motor for another year or so. It likes the abuse, it honestly does. I am considering selling the motor though and going forged 355 with a custom rear mount turbo setup(built by myself and a few friends) with water injection and nitrous. We'll see how long the machine shop takes on teh 383, that'll help me decide what I want to do.
