Yeah, I didn't get a chance to dyno the before and after effects of having an extra 3/4 quart of oil in the pan so I won't know for sure. Adding a Canton pan would be the ideal solution for sure but it will not be happening anytime soon. As of now the psi is fine with me and the car is running really good.

I have a stock pump, 383, stock pan. On wot with normal oil capacity I will get the 4K + drop in oil pressure, but I simply run an addtl 1/2 qt.

This car (my street 93) does not see anything but cruising and short trip action so very little problems occur.

However since I have a new Canton Pan in a box in the garage I might get off my duff and put it on one of these days.

You guys with them.....did they fit? I have heard so many problems with no clearance at the steering rack that I simply have left it in the box.

What oil do you run and what weight is it? It doesnot drop if you add that additional oil?

Im thinkin bout going with the Canton oil pan also..I believe Nutek Motorsports revised the pan to fit better..Maybe they will do a group purchase

Anyone using a scraper? The guy building my motor suggested one since it was only 10.00.

First off, Nutek didn't revise anything! It's not their pan. It is a Canton pan. Now if you meant Nutek offered their consulting services and helped Canton engineer the changes, that I will believe and agree with.

Second, the revised pan is now a different part #. They now have 2 pans available for the f-body, 15-244T, and the revised version 15-24(2)T. THAT is the pan that will fit (both internal and extenal) better. Do not expect the changes made, to spill over into the 244.

Welps...I changed my oil from Mobile 1(10w-30) to Castrol GTX 10w-40 and it has solved most of my problem...the PSI doesnot drop at all at 4krpm..It remains steady all the way up(60psi)

It did drop to 45 when I would go WOT in 1 or 2nd which Im sure it is tossing the oil to the back of the oil pan away from the pickup..Im running 5qrts right now so I may toss in a tad more and see if that fixes it..Im glad its not dropping all the time now..Guess Mobile 1 was way too thin for my motor..

Well, I don't think it's 'Mobil 1' but maybe the weight of Mobil 1 that you were running. I'm switched from AutoZone brand 15-30w oil to Mobil 1 red tops, which I think is 15-50w and my problem went away totally.

I just don't want to scare HV oil pump, stock pan, stroker people away from the best oil on earth Mobil 1.

Arghh..Well i added .5qrts more oil to see if I could solve the dropping of psi from the torque of my car in 1st and 2nd gears(now running 5.5qrts) and the problem came back..tells me its not the oil...Like Jordon stated before I think my crank just beats the oil to much when I add a little too much...If I run less its fine but then theres not enough oil in the pan for when I launch and toss the oil to the rear of the oil pan..Looks like a Canton will solve my problems..I need the windage tray anyways.Thats my main problem I do believe..

Try a thicker oil not MORE oil.

If you're using 5W30. Try 10W30.

Might lessen the problem.

Does anyone think a scraper could possibly help?

Your engine builder suggested you using one cuz it's only $10, or cuz it has merit on your particular oil control setup?

Before assuming that Mobil 1 is so great check out the thread on what oil do you use. May be surprised to find that Mobil 1 aint' so great.

Something to think about. A few years back the Dyson/Weaver Ford at the 24 hrs of Daytona had major problems. It was smoking like crazy. They ran the last 6 or so hours of the race like this. I was using oil like crazy too. They were making pit stops JUST to pour oil in. REDLINE oil. When the thing was disassembled it had bend rods and valves and even some busted valves. Basically trashed completely. Something to think about...

Ya, gotta watch it with some of those oils. Wouldn't think it, but oil can bend parts like bending lead. No reason why oil shouldn't be able to prevent mechanical failure.
