Re: 383 is FINALLY running

id love to see pics.
I must ask you one thing though. How did you get into porting LT1 heads if you never owned an F-body? did you do a set for a friend or something?

Re: 383 is FINALLY running
It seems like these cars are really that hard to push. Some scales will tell the tale but I have some strong legs (years of hockey. football, etc) and could push my Big Block 55 Chevy on a slight incline up in the shop. I could hardly move this T/A on level ground. It was alot harder to push that I was expecting.
My wifes 2000 Ram Air is alot easier to push although it has never been on scales either.
My wants and wishes have changed over the years and I keep going back to street car/track car/street car/track car. Even though they were all "streetable" and could be driven on the street, they were just set up more for street use or track use. When you only have one "play toy", you always want the one you do not have and my 55 Chevy with 4.10's, TH 400, 3500 stall (no lock up, no overdrive, no A/C) 242/250 cam, etc, etc was sold to fund this T/A as I was just tired of this type of car.
I have been porting heads for many years and the LT1 is no different than any other 23 degree Chevy head when porting. I did a few LT1's and the people were happy and told their freinds, etc. I offer a much better product now as I have learned more and more over the years.
Tuning will be done at A & S Automotive. These are the same people that tuned Denny McLains car and as far as I know, the only option for hands on tuning with in a few hours. I think Denny might drop by and check out the car when it is there. If all goes well, I will have the car there today for them to handle the exhaust and 'possibly" get the tuning done before Monday.
I'll post #'s up when I get them. Even though it is my older heads and small cam for a 383, I feel I will be getting all I can with my attention to detail on parts selection and willing to spend the $$$ on these parts as well as a dyno tune. Heck, might even see 425 RWHP if everything is "perfect".

Yeah Lloyd your heads have always worked well for me. I remember a couple years back you ported my factory castings and I went from a stock head best of 12.00's@113mph to 11.61@117mph on the first outing with a e-mail tune and the factory GM valves. Later Clint

At the same time, it's cool that you remained modest with all aspects of this game, from working on what makes our cars move, to building your own car
.I think my 96 TA is a pig too, my smog sheet recorded my car at ~3900 lbs. That better at least mean with the 200 lb. man that was sitting in it
Re: 383 is FINALLY running
The heads and cam were done about 6 months ago and was actually done for a 383 Impala. This is the same LE2 cam everyone else gets and the typical heads I was doing at that time. It should work well with this heavy car and mild gear/stall.
The exhaust is installed and the car should be tuned tomorrow or Saturday.
I'll post #'s when i get them. I'll get some pics and post them also.
