383-396 Stroker build need some input.

I am going to start on another LT1 shortblock for my car. My current setup is still working great but I would like more N/A Horsepower and some more torque would be great. I plan on just pulling the engine when the new bullet is ready and putting it back in the next weekend with the same LE fully ported Trickflows (about 60cc chambers) and swap from my CC306 to another hydraulic roller in the 240+ duration @ 50 with 600+lift. I would like to know what combo what be better for reliability, 383 with 5.7, 6.0" rods or 396 with whichever rod works best? I will have at least 200HP n2o and want to be able to cruise it too so I would like to keep the compression under 12:1, 93 friendly. The intake will be the same ported LT4 with 58mm T.B. The car is currently at 3,450#'s, 3.55 gears, 4k converter and 3" dual exhaust. The block will be .30 over, 4bolt splayed mains, h-beam rods, Liunati n2o piston, 4340 steel crank etc... TIA Later Clint

Clint,

A 383 is much easier, and more reliable.

Thats what I was thinking too Brett, but I wanted to build a 396 to be a little different but I would much rather reliability. How much Hp do you think I can p/u by going with the 383ci, more compression and a better camshaft? I don't want to go too radical with the cam so it's still driveable. I am sure I will get with you Brett when I get to the point of buying the new cam. Later Clint

Clint -

If you've got the nine large, you should just buy Ag's 396.

Yeah, a 383 IS more reliable.

But, uh... Well... [EDIT] it, you know? It's a sweet motor.
If I wasn't planning to buy a house before next summer, I'd buy it myself. And do evil things to it.

Yes, I would consider it if I could get the OK from my wife, who had our first son last week but it would probably end up in divorce court if I bought it LOL. I also think that most of the fun in building these cars is doing most of the work yourself, if you have the ability, tools and resources. I can do everything but the machine work and I get most of it done for reasonable prices so thanks anyways. Later Clint
