355 or 383 Stroker?

Hey everyone i was wondering, my 94 Z28 is gonna be paid off soon, so i was thinking of taking out a loan, and putting some major mods into the car. I was thinking of buying either the 355 or 383 Stroker motor from LS1 Speed. I was just wondering what you guys all thought would be a better route to go? I am Also considering doin some forced induction possibly after i get it done, either a procharger or turbo, possibly some spray, but im not sure on the spray yet.

But here is what i am looking for, im looking for something thats still going to be pretty streetable, because right now this is my only car, but i do have emissions, so i need something that is going to pass that for at least right now, until i can get my car registered at my cottage in Wi. Im also then thinking about doing a stage 3 Transmission, with like a 3200 or possibly a 4000 Stall, then with some 3:73 gears, but im not sure on the rear end.

I think thats about everything, so what do u guys think about this for a decent streetable monster. I dont know all about the technical things about the motors, like cams, heads, all that kind of stuff, so any more help you guys could offer would greatly appreciate it, cause the main reason i wanna do this is because most of my buddies have imports, hondas, acuras, those kinds of cars, but even though they are done right( not pep boys style, they are really good looking cars) but they still have the ricer attitude saying they could beast domestics and all this, im only 19, and most of them are like 22-23, so i just want something that is gonna shut them up for a while..LOL..alright everyone i appreciate your help and info in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you guys with all the info you have that could really help me out, thanks ALOT

The more cubic inches, the easier time you'll probably have with emmissions and driveability. The 355 is a small step up from stock, but the 383 will allow you to run more cam/hp without idle or emmissions problems. Likewise, you won't have to rev it through the roof or try to tune a boosted application to get the same hp the 383 will give you.

In all reality, the heads determine hp... the cubes determine torque. Same heads on either engine will get you the same peak hp most likely.

I'd have to say that volumetric and combustion efficiency is a bigger variable where torque is concerned. Some very small motors can make big torque with the right induction. But Steve is right when you compare two identical engines with the same induction and similar camshaft timing. Take a look at the Edelbrock 350 and 383 packages to see where the differences lie.

383 would be your best bet, although a 350 can be built cheaper and can make very nice power. The 383 will be a bit more fun on the street though. To do forced induction well is pricey. You definitely need to decide on a realistic power goal and budget to that end. Nitrous is always the cheapest way to fly...

Jacob, this would be best discussed in a Engine tech forum. Transfering to LT1 Tech, thanks.
