3500 Vigi on stock car

I trashed my trans at a recent lapping session and just had an awesome 700r4 w/ billet servo and manual valve body set up. I have the opportunity to get a vigi 3500 extremely cheap but I'm a little unsure of that high of a stall. I won't be doing any more road racing w/ this vehicle. I really want to get back in to drag racing it.

Mods are flowmaster catback, k&n cai, adj fuel reg, holley 52mm tb, hypertech stage 2 chip, and of course loads of suspension upgrades.

How will this behave on the street? How much is it to have one restalled? I'd much rather go w/ this convertor than a stock one. But I have to buy a new one either way.

that would be fine as long as its a lock up. i wouldnt get a non-lock up for everyday street use.

they say you can gain up to .5+ in the 1/4 with a good stall and i fully believe it.

ill be getting a stall for my car (if i keep the A4) when i do the rebuild and ill be going with a 3k-3,5k with my mostly stock 96 Z.

as for the install, i havent priced any shops because i got a guy that can do mine for about 80 bucks. i have no idea what they normally go for.

are all vigi's lockup? if not how do I tell that it is? I don't think they make one though because it says you don't need any extra trans coolers.

most tranny companies have either or, you just have to ask. you should be able to get either one.

i dont know about Vigi' in particular. i will either be getting a B&M or TCI. i know they offer either for those two.

Vig may make a non lockup I dont know but most that I have seen have all been lockup. Also, I have heard not to go with companies like B&M and TCI. I have heard that their stalls arent as good of a design and arent as streetable under normal driving.

It'll be great, you'll love it. Vigilantes are one of the best converters out there. I have a coan 3500 on my bolt on LT1, and I was pulling low 1.7 60's. You'll get used to the driveability in a few days, its not a big deal.

Well I picked it up, but it wasn't purple, it is a 9.5 w/ the fin looking mounts though. Its painted black. The fluid in it is perfectly clean, the part number stamped on the back is 259415, thats a vigi 2600. Does PI strip and repaint them when they are restalled? The guy I got it from had bought it from someone else and then found out that it wouldn't work on an LS1 so he let it go fairly cheap, so he was probably misinformed about it. I can live w/ a 2600 for what I'm wanting to do but I'm just doing the home work now that I should have done yesterday..
