3500 stall compatible with stock LT1?

I was curious if anyone knows if a 3500 stall is compatible at all with the stock lt1 cam and such. I just need to run it for a few months untill i have the money to get my cam/heads and some other goodies.

I think it's too much for a stock cam, if anything it'll make it slower. You'll have a very narrow rpm range to play in.
IMHO, just leave the stock stall in until you're ready to stick in the new cam.

thats what i was worried about, i didnt really wanna wait till i have my cam to get it tho since both the stall, and my head/cam package are expensive

chances are the converter will not stall at that rpm anyway.

Re: 3500 stall compatible with stock LT1?

I'm using a 2800rpm 9.5" Edge that stalls at 3000-3100 rpm and I still have the stock cam, albeit with bolt-ons. I'm also in a heavier car.

I would recommend the Edge 9.5 if you're more interested in straight line acceleration, but I would hesitate to suggest a 3500rpm converter.

However, if you are more interested in "road-race" type of quickness, then keep the stocker; because it'll give you better response.

I am driving around on a 3200 stall right now. Not bad at all with the stock cam.

I KNOW the fast bolton guys will disagree with you on this both b-body and f-body and the b-body cam runs out of steam even earlier than the f-body, the weight will help them stall higher too.

Yeah, I picked up almost a second with my converter on the stock cam.
