350 rwhp

What is the easiest way to get my car to around 350 rwhp? I know cam and headers, but which cam can get me there and still be streetable? I also don't want power adders like a supercharger or nitrous. Thanks for any replies

cc305 cam w/ fully ported heads. Also throw in a ported intake manifold, 58 Throttle Body, TB by pass, MAF, and headers for good measure. (Headers are imporant for cams)

Make sure to use Long tubes, or at least MAC mid-lenghts. The combo listed above sounds right for 350rwhp.

amount of work on the head really doesnt matter, the cam is what will get you in trouble with the sniffer police and the 305 is the largest cam you can go with in an lt1 and pass withou trouble. supposedly, you can have pcmforless program you pcm to pass with the 306 but i find it hard to believe.

I have heard that you can not pass the sniffer w/ the 306 no matter what!

i am gonna email bryan at pcmforless and find out. i am buying a motor maybe this weekend to build and need to know anyways. if he cant tell me i live in memphis so i will give comp a call and see what they say. i have heard that he can tune your pcm and make it work but your car will be a pig but i dont really care as long as i pass. i wonder if the people who have failed with that cam were using a cat. converter. my car barely fails without the cat and barely registers anything with the converter on it so i welded a starter tube on the converter and just bolt it in when i go through inspection. maybe thats all it will take with the cam.

Just curious, whats the point of that cam if they have to program the car to be slow to pass emissions?

Least expensive way would be to do what they say. But if you're like me, you don't want to go into the engine with a cam and stuff like that yet. Easiest way, but a little more expensive, is do all the boltons you can do. My car is running about 385 horses at the flywheel with all boltons, with a stock throttle body, intake, cam, and heads. farthest i've been into the engine is roller rockers. set it up correctly, and put a lightweight drivetrain on there (i.e. aluminum driveshaft, and you already have a very light rearend with the 10 bolt) and you should put down somewhere close to 350 at the wheels. our advantage is that we have an m6, so our drivetrain percentage loss is considerably less than automatic cars. Oh yeah, only computer tuning is the hypertech program which is a generic fuel/spark advance, so with proper tuning, i think you may hit that number, and still have all stock internals.

well you can buy the program from him and get the cable to go from a computer to your diagnostic plug and do it yourself or buy a spare pcm off of ebay, i have seen them for as low as 60 bucks, and have it programmed and just swap it when you need it.

Bryan at PCMFORLESS has mentioned that the Comp Cam 503 could pass... it's a 224/230 with good lift.

Another cam that is CARB legal has 218/218 both with 280 Duration that will take you above 6200 RPM! Good lift with .498 or .525 with 1.6 RRs. Put that on ported heads and intake... you'll be set.
