Ok. I'll start with a recipe and put some rough ests.

Intake:
CAI 150
1.6 RRs + springs 200
cam (depending on your intended use). 200

Exhaust:
Free-flowing exhaust, cat. 350
Headers 350

Tuning: 150

Own labor: 1400

With labor: cam only $2200

If all labor $3000.00

RWHP: around 315 +-

So starting with around 240+- RWHP you experience a gain of 75 RWHP=30.00/HP (own labor)
$40.00/HP with cam labor. JMHWAG

Granatelli MAF
CSI Electric Water pump
Comp Pro Mag 1.6 RR's
LT4 Valve springs

but I REALLY think it was that airfoil thingie that did it
You got to 300rwhp on stock manifolds? Thats pretty impressive. I thought headers were pretty much a given to reach that mark.

Bubba, a cam is definitely not necessary for 300+ RWHP. A mild cam with all the other bolt-ons should give you about 330 RWHP.

Probably true, however it takes just the right combo to get to 300 RWHP from 240 AND he did say he wanted 300+, so to be sure, a mild cam would put him where he wants to be.

Love the RWHP of those stick shift cars. I only have 386 rwhp (power sucking turbo 400 trans) so I will have to upgrade again this winter.

I'm aiming to hit the 300 mark w/ stock heads/cam and keeping the exhaust manifolds. Plan to stay away from the crap mods like the Granatelli MAF, pullies, things like that. Hopefully it works.

This is what I've thrown on so far:
K&N CAI
1LE elbow
TB bypass
Taylor wires

This is what I want to throw on later:
Holley air foil
Off-road pipe
LM
1.6 RR
LT4 KM
Custom dyno-tune

I'm saving my cash and keeping my fingers crossed...

To be a little more specific.

At factory 275 w/15% loss m-6 roughly 235-240 RWHP. So you need 60-65 more to reach 300.

CAI=12
1.6 RRs=13
headers (shorties)=15
tuning=10
exhaust=10
Total=60+-

Gears don't increase RWHP.
TB bypasses, pulleys, ignitions, air foils,maybe 5-10, but hard to tell.

If you are running an open exhaust you will get gains, but that's not quite reasonable to run around with cut-outs, so that's why I believe the above mods plus tuning should pretty much ensure the 300 and with a mild cam pretty much guarantees 31-325 if done correctly.

But for those who believe picking up 60 RWHP is easy and inexpensive, please let me know how you did it or plan to do it.

BTW, not for me. I should be running around 360 or so with my little mods.JMHO

Don't have mods in signature. This is what I base my guess of 360+-.
97SS, M-6, 4-bolt mains, Scam Air w/Holley Filter.
1.6 RRs
210/224 Cam
Heads P&P w/2.00/1.57 valves
MSD-6A
TB Bypass
52 MM TB
160 stat
PCM Forless tuning
SLP shorty headers
March (2) pullies

Might be wrong, but I should be close.

My friend ran his car on the dyno. He said he had 315 RWHP with the following mods.

$5 - used TB airfoil
$60 - salvaged headers (cutting was done for a perfect fit)
$17 - used K&N cone filter
$0 - cut out slots under the car leading to air filter
$20 - 3" exhaust tubing (bought at home depot, bent with friends pipe bender)
$.50 - IAT sensor chip (little resistor bought at radioshack)
$0 - TB bypass (cut a piece of copper tubing from neighbors gas line)
$6 - used underdrive pulley
$55 - custom made electric supercharger/blower ( switch on dash, WOT only)

For a Grand Total of $163.50. The only real set back was the headers had to have a lot of work done to them such as cutting, grinding, sanding and repainting with high temp. paint. He recently bought a used dry NOS kit but has'nt installed it. I'm planning to do the same thing with my car except without the electric supercharger/blower, its a real PIA to deal with.

Skip the 1.6RRs and go for 1.7's. You can get them for $220 or something at flatlanderracing.com or something like that. Cheaper than most 1.6's you will find with a 5-10rwhp adavantage too

There not worth $200 like theve been selling the for, but build one yourself ( a good, high rpm/torque motor) and they arent that bad. Just flip a switch right before you hit the gas to take off, than BAM! it just kicks in and pulls hard too. My friend has a really strong homemade one and it dranis the battery quick, so he only uses it when he really needs it.
